Robert Leadam Eddison, OBE (June 10, 1908 – December 14, 1991), was a distinguished English actor, best known for his memorable portrayal of the Grail Knight in *Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade*. Born in Japan to British parents, Edwin Eddison and Hilda Muriel Leadham, he had a twin brother, Talbot. Eddison's lineage included notable connections to the Tatham Brothers, iron pipe manufacturers from Philadelphia, and he was a descendant of the Billington family, who emigrated to America aboard the Mayflower.

Eddison was celebrated for his deep, resonant voice and tall, slender stature. His theatrical career flourished with acclaimed performances in Shakespearean roles, including a noteworthy *Hamlet* at the Old Vic Theatre. He also captivated audiences as Feste and Sir Andrew Aguecheek in *Twelfth Night*, and as King Lear on Broadway. His versatility allowed him to tackle works by Ibsen, Chekhov, and Sophocles, as well as portray Canon Chasuble in Oscar Wilde's *The Importance of Being Earnest*.

In addition to stage work, Eddison had a robust presence in radio, featuring in numerous BBC dramas throughout his career, with roles in *The Canterbury Tales* and adaptations of Japanese Noh plays. Although his filmography was modest, he appeared in several films, including a supporting role in Peter Ustinov's *Vice Versa* (1948) and a part in *American Friends* (1991).
