Mireille Darc
Mireille Darc (15 May 1938 – 28 August 2017) was a multifaceted French talent known for her work as an actress, director, photographer, singer, and model. She gained significant recognition for her role as Corinne in Jean-Luc Godard’s acclaimed 1967 film Weekend, which marked a turning point in her career. Darc was bestowed with the titles of Knight of the Legion of Honour and Commander of the National Order of Merit, reflecting her contributions to the arts.
Born Mireille Christiane Gabrielle Aimée Aigroz in Toulon, she pursued her passion for acting at the Conservatory of Dramatic Arts in her hometown before relocating to Paris in 1959. Her acting career began with Claude Barma's television drama Du côté de l'enfer (1960), followed by her first leading role in Hauteclaire (1961). She starred in various notable films, including The Tall Blond Man with One Black Shoe (1972) and its sequel, alongside Alain Delon in several projects, such as Pouic-Pouic (1963) and Death of a Corrupt Man (1977).
Despite facing significant health challenges, including a heart condition that necessitated surgery and a severe car accident in 1983, Darc made a remarkable return to the screen in the 1990s. Her legacy continued until she was honored with the Legion of Honour in 2006. After battling health issues in her later years, Mireille Darc passed away in Paris on 28 August 2017, leaving behind a rich artistic legacy.
