Anthony Hayes (born September 21, 1977) is a prominent Australian actor renowned for his portrayal of Jack McLeod in the beloved series *McLeod's Daughters*. In addition to his acting career, Hayes has made significant contributions as a writer, director, and producer, with several noteworthy films to his credit. His directorial debut, *New Skin* (2002), garnered the Dendy Award at the Sydney Film Festival and earned him the IF Award for Best Emerging Director. He followed this with *Sweet Dreams* (2002), which was celebrated as the audience's favorite film at the St Kilda Film Festival in 2003.

Hayes's film *Ten Empty* (2008) premiered at the Sydney Film Festival and received nominations for the Queensland Premier's Literary Awards and the Victorian Premier's Literary Award for its screenplay. His acting prowess has also been recognized with numerous accolades, including AFI and Film Critics Circle Award nominations for his performances in *The Boys* and *The Square* (2009). He won these awards for his roles in *Look Both Ways* (2005) and *Suburban Mayhem* (2006).

In 1999, Hayes co-founded Rogue Stars Productions alongside fellow actors Brendan Cowell and Leland Kean. His work on *The Square* earned him the nickname "The King of Western Grit" from Joel Edgerton, which later inspired a dedicated Facebook page featuring a collection of movie posters showcasing his face.
