Maya Sansa, born on September 25, 1975, in Rome, is a distinguished Italian actress known for her impactful contributions to cinema. She is the daughter of an Iranian father and an Italian mother, which has enriched her cultural perspective. At the age of 14, Maya began her journey into acting at the "Virgilio" high school in Rome, later enhancing her skills at the prestigious Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London, where she earned her degree in acting.
Her professional breakthrough came when acclaimed director Marco Bellocchio cast her in his film "La balia." This collaboration marked the beginning of a fruitful relationship, as she later starred in his critically acclaimed work, "Goodmorning, Night." Maya’s talent also caught the attention of director Marco Tullio Giordana, who featured her in the celebrated film, "The Best of Youth."
Maya Sansa's exceptional performance in "Dormant Beauty" earned her the David di Donatello award for Best Supporting Actress on June 14, 2013.
