John Gordon Sinclair, born in 1962 in Glasgow, is a renowned Scottish actor best known for his role as Gregory in the beloved film Gregory's Girl. Originally named Gordon John, he adopted the stage name 'John Gordon Sinclair' due to an existing registration with Equity.

His journey in acting began at Glasgow's Youth Theatre, where he connected with Robert Buchanan, a fellow enthusiast of the Canadian rock band Rush. This led him to star in several films directed by Bill Forsyth, with Gregory's Girl, released in 1981 when Sinclair was just 19, being the standout. He revisited the character in Gregory's Two Girls nearly twenty years later and also featured in Forsyth's critically acclaimed Local Hero.

Sinclair's television and stage career has been diverse, including roles in Goodbye Mr Steadman and the sitcoms An Actor's Life For Me and Hot Metal. He portrayed Dan Weir in the BBC Radio 4 adaptation of Iain Banks's Espedair Street and played the lead role of Dr. Finlay in Adventures of a Black Bag.

In addition to his acting, he was part of the Scottish squad's World Cup song "We Have a Dream," a hit in 1982. He also narrated the BBC Scotland documentary series That Was The Team That Was. Notably, he starred in the 1990 TV series Your Cheatin' Heart and appeared in memorable Tesco commercials in the late '90s. His recent work includes a performance in The Producers in London’s West End. Sinclair was honored with the Laurence Olivier Theatre Award in 1995 for Best Actor in a Musical for his role in She Loves Me and showcased his versatility by voicing male characters in HIT Entertainment's Rubbadubbers. Additionally, he was the Master of Ceremonies for Mike Oldfield's Tubular Bells II premiere at Edinburgh Castle in 1992.
