Valérie Benguigui
Valérie Benguigui (July 8, 1961 – September 2, 2013) was a prominent French actress and theater director, born in Oran, Algeria. She honed her craft at the Cours Florent and the National Chaillot Theatre School, which laid the foundation for her illustrious career. Benguigui made her film debut in 1986 with Francis Huster's "On a volé Charlie Spencer," marking the beginning of her journey in the entertainment industry.
Her most notable television role came between 2000 and 2005 when she starred in the acclaimed series "Avocats et associés." During this period, she also took on roles as a producer and director for various theatrical productions. In 2012, she gained widespread recognition for her performance as Élisabeth in the comedy film "What's in a Name?" (Le Prénom). This role earned her the prestigious César Award for Best Supporting Actress and garnered a nomination for a Molière Award in the same category.
Benguigui's personal life saw her marrying actor and restaurant manager Eric Wapler, a relationship that blossomed during their time at Cours Florent. Together, they had two children. Tragically, she passed away from breast cancer at the age of 52 on September 2, 2013, in Paris, after battling the illness for three years. Valérie Benguigui was laid to rest at Montparnasse Cemetery, leaving behind a legacy of talent and passion for the arts.
