Jennifer Holt, born Elizabeth Marshall Holt in Hollywood, California, was the daughter of actor Jack Holt and Margaret Woods. She grew up alongside her brother Tim, both of whom pursued careers in acting.

Holt made her cinematic debut under the alias "Jacqueline Holt" in the 1941 western "Stick to Your Guns," featuring Hopalong Cassidy. Over the course of the 1940s, she starred in 47 films, primarily in the western genre alongside iconic cowboy stars like Lash LaRue, Tex Ritter, and Johnny Mack Brown. Her final film appearance came in 1949, after which she co-hosted the television show "Panhandle Pete and Jennifer" in 1950, which aired for one season. Throughout the 1950s, she made sporadic guest appearances on various western television series, including "The Gabby Hayes Show" and "Tales of Wells Fargo."

Despite the decline of western films by the mid-1950s, Holt found renewed interest in the genre during the 1970s, participating in several western film festivals. Jennifer had multiple marriages and spent time living in Mexico, ultimately passing away in Dorset, England, in 1997. Notably, she was married to actor William Bakewell, with whom she starred in the chapter play "Hop Harrigan." Interestingly, despite the extensive legacy of her father and brother in westerns, Jennifer never appeared in any of their films. Additionally, she was not related to actor David Holt, a common misconception. In her later years, she also hosted children's television programs, including "The Adventures of Uncle Mistletoe" and "Panhandle Pete and Jennifer."
