Christine Ann Lahti, born on April 4, 1950, is a distinguished American actress and filmmaker renowned for her versatile contributions to film and television. Her remarkable career includes an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress for her role in the 1984 film *Swing Shift*. Lahti has appeared in several significant films, such as *...And Justice for All* (1979), *Housekeeping* (1987), *Running on Empty* (1988), *Leaving Normal* (1992), and *The Fear Inside*.

In 1995, she made her directorial debut with the short film *Lieberman in Love*, which earned her an Academy Award for Best Live Action Short Film. Lahti's stage career began with her Broadway debut in 1980 in *Loose Ends*, followed by notable performances in *Present Laughter* (1982) and *The Heidi Chronicles* (1989).

A celebrated television performer, she has received eight Golden Globe nominations and six Emmy nominations. Lahti won a Golden Globe for her role in the 1989 TV film *No Place Like Home* and captured both a Golden Globe and an Emmy in 1998 for portraying Kate Austin on CBS's *Chicago Hope* (1995–99).
