Thomas Thieme

Thomas Thieme, born on October 29, 1948, is a distinguished German actor renowned for his extensive contributions to both stage and screen. With a career spanning several decades, he has participated in over 100 film and television projects since his debut in 1973.

Thieme is particularly recognized for portraying complex characters that often embody power and moral ambiguity. His international acclaim rose significantly with his portrayal of Martin Bormann in the critically acclaimed film Downfall (2004) and as the Communist minister Bruno Hempf in the Oscar-winning The Lives of Others. Renowned film critic Roger Ebert likened his performance to that of the legendary Sydney Greenstreet, highlighting Thieme's commanding presence on screen.

In 2015, he took on the role of Uli Hoeneß, the former Bayern Munich president who faced imprisonment for tax evasion, in the television film Der Patriarch.
