Ian Holm
Sir Ian Holm Cuthbert CBE (September 12, 1931 – June 19, 2020) was a distinguished English actor renowned for his extensive work in theater, television, and film. He began his artistic journey with the Royal Shakespeare Company, establishing himself as a prominent stage actor. Holm garnered critical acclaim throughout his career, earning two BAFTA Awards, a Tony Award, and nominations for both an Academy Award and two Emmy Awards. In 1989, Queen Elizabeth II honored him with the title of Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE).
His notable accolades include winning the Tony Award for Best Featured Actor for his role in Harold Pinter's The Homecoming (1967) and the Laurence Olivier Award for his portrayal in King Lear (1998). Holm's filmography features memorable performances in works such as Alien (1979), Chariots of Fire (1981), and The Lord of the Rings trilogy, where he portrayed the beloved character Bilbo Baggins. He also lent his voice to Chef Skinner in Pixar's Ratatouille (2007).
