Robi Draco Rosa
Robi Draco Rosa, born Draco Cornelius Rosa Suárez, first rose to prominence in the 1980s as a key member of the boy band Menudo, where he took the lead on their most successful U.S. single, "Hold Me," and appeared prominently in its music video. At just 19, he made his film debut in the popular Puerto Rican movie Salsa, where he met actress Angela Alvarado, who later became his wife.
In the 1990s, Rosa played a pivotal role in propelling Ricky Martin's career to international stardom by writing and producing several of his chart-topping hits including "María," "La Vida Loca," "La Copa de La Vida," "She Bangs," and "Shake Your Bon-Bon." His creative talents were further showcased during a tour with Lenny Kravitz in the summer of 2004, promoting his concept album Mad Love.
Rosa faced a significant health challenge in April 2011 when he was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin lymphoma near his liver. Following a combination of alternative and conventional treatments in Houston and Santa Monica, he took a hiatus from his career, returning in March 2012 to record his album Vida and perform alongside Juan Luis Guerra and Rubén Blades at the Coliseo de Puerto Rico José Miguel Agrelot. By December 2012, he was declared cancer-free, but sadly faced a relapse in December 2013. He triumphed once again over cancer, being declared cancer-free on January 5, 2014.
