Laine Mägi
Laine Mägi, born Laine Michelson-Adamson on February 3, 1959, is a versatile Estonian actress, dancer, choreographer, and educator renowned for her contributions to stage, film, and television. She embarked on her artistic journey as a teenager and has since established herself as a prominent figure in the performing arts.
Hailing from Kehra, Laine is the daughter of Peeter and Elli-Anniki Michelson-Adamson and has a younger brother. She has a familial connection to the arts through her cousin, actress Terje Pennie-Kolberg. Laine's passion for ballet ignited early, leading her to the Tallinn Ballet School at just nine years old, where she would travel by train to pursue her dream. Her stage debut came at the tender age of ten in a production of Astrid Lindgren's "Pippi Longstocking" at the Estonia Theatre. Unfortunately, health issues forced her to cease ballet training in 1973. Nevertheless, she continued her dance career, performing in various Tallinn venues from 1976 until 1981.
After completing secondary school in Tallinn in 1977, Laine enrolled at the Tallinn State Conservatory (now the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre) to study acting. Under the guidance of Aarne Üksküla, she graduated in 1982 alongside notable classmates such as Margus Oopkaup and Anu Lamp. In addition to her performing career, Laine founded the Laine Mägi School of Dance in Pärnu, nurturing the next generation of dancers.
