Christo Vladimirov Javacheff and Jeanne-Claude were a dynamic artistic duo renowned for their large-scale environmental art installations. Born on June 13, 1935, Christo hails from Gabrovo, Bulgaria, while Jeanne-Claude was born in Morocco. Their paths crossed in Paris in October 1958, where a chance encounter led to Christo painting a portrait of Jeanne-Claude's mother, sparking a profound romance and collaborative partnership that would last a lifetime.

Throughout their careers, Christo and Jeanne-Claude garnered international acclaim for their ambitious projects that transformed landscapes into immersive art experiences. Among their most notable works are "The Gates" in Central Park, New York City (2005), which featured 7,503 orange fabric panels, and "Wrapped Reichstag" in Berlin (1995), an iconic installation that enveloped the German parliament building in fabric. Their innovative use of temporary materials and environmental settings challenged traditional notions of art, inviting viewers to engage with the world around them in new ways.

The couple's dedication to their vision was recognized through numerous awards and exhibitions worldwide. They continued to inspire future generations of artists until Jeanne-Claude's passing in 2009. Christo continued to honor their shared legacy, completing their final project, "The Floating Piers," in Italy in 2016, shortly before his own death in May 2020.
