Tian Yuan

Tian Yuan, a multifaceted talent from Wuhan, China, has made her mark as a singer-songwriter, actress, novelist, and photographer. She pursued her studies in English at Beijing Language and Culture University, graduating in 2007.

Her musical journey began at the tender age of 16 when she became the lead vocalist and lyricist for the local band Hopscotch. In 2002, the group signed with the prominent label Modern Sky, releasing their debut English-language album, "A Wishful Way," which blended trip hop and indie rock. The album garnered positive feedback from critics and audiences alike, showcasing a refreshing sound. However, a contract dispute with Modern Sky temporarily halted her musical endeavors. Subsequently, she transitioned to Dong Music, where she launched her solo career with her self-titled album in 2010, featuring a collection of 11 songs.

In addition to her musical pursuits, Tian Yuan is an accomplished author. She published her English-language novel, "Zebra Woods," in 2002, which gained international recognition. This was followed by her second novel, "Double Mono," released in May 2007, delving into themes of love, youth, and self-discovery.

Tian's acting career took off with her role in the 2004 Hong Kong film "Butterfly," where she portrayed a lesbian singer opposite Josie Ho. Her performance earned her accolades, winning Best New Performer at both the 24th Hong Kong Film Awards and Taiwan's Golden Horse Film Awards, solidifying her status as a prominent figure in the entertainment industry.
