Abid Ali

Abid Ali was a prominent Pakistani actor, director, and producer whose contributions to the entertainment industry left an indelible mark. He is most renowned for his unforgettable portrayal of Dilawar Khan in the iconic 1979 PTV drama *Waris*, which remains a classic in Pakistani television history.

Born in Quetta, Abid developed a passion for the arts early in life, engaging in storytelling and painting during his childhood. His journey in the media began at Radio Pakistan before he moved to Lahore, where he successfully launched his television career with the drama *Jhok Sial* in 1973.

Abid Ali expanded his talents beyond acting, stepping into directing and producing with the groundbreaking 1993 drama *Dasht*, which was notable as the first private production in Pakistan. That same year, he also directed *Doosra Aasman* for PTV, recognized as the first drama filmed outside the country. His versatility was displayed in various projects, including the 2007 series *Saheli* and the family drama *Massi aur Malka* in 2009, where he often showcased his acting skills alongside his directing prowess.

Abid Ali's legacy is characterized by his remarkable achievements and contributions to Pakistani television, which continue to inspire future generations. He passed away on September 5, 2019, due to liver failure, leaving behind a rich heritage in the arts.
