Luca Barbareschi
Luca Barbareschi, born on July 28, 1956, in Montevideo, is a multifaceted Italian-Uruguayan actor, television host, and a former politician who served in the Italian Chamber of Deputies. He is of Jewish descent and has made significant contributions to the entertainment industry as well as to Italian politics.
Barbareschi gained notoriety for his role in the controversial 1980 horror film *Cannibal Holocaust*, a project infamous for its graphic content. The film's shocking realism led the authorities to suspect that the actors had been killed during its production. To enhance the film’s mystique, Barbareschi and his co-stars had agreed to remain out of the public eye for a year. This ruse was only dispelled when they appeared on television, debunking the rumors surrounding their supposed deaths.
In 2008, Barbareschi transitioned from acting to politics, securing a seat in the Italian Parliament as part of Silvio Berlusconi's center-right party, The People of Freedom. Two years later, he joined Gianfranco Fini's new political movement, Future and Freedom, before departing from the legislature in 2013.
His career has not been without controversy; in 2012, Barbareschi was involved in multiple altercations with journalists, including an incident in which he physically attacked a cameraman and reportedly stole his smartphone. Despite his tumultuous public image, Barbareschi remains a notable figure in both film and politics in Italy.
