Olan Soule
Olan Evart Soule (February 28, 1909 – February 1, 1994) was a prolific American actor whose remarkable career spanned several decades, leaving an indelible mark on both radio and television. With an impressive portfolio, Soule lent his voice to nearly 7,000 radio programs and commercials, showcased his talents in over 200 television series and films, and appeared in more than 60 feature films. One of his most notable achievements was his role as Batman, a character he voiced for 15 years (1968–1983) across various animated series, solidifying his place in the hearts of superhero fans.
Soule's personal life was equally noteworthy; he married Norma Elizabeth Miller on September 29, 1929, and they enjoyed a long partnership lasting 63 years until her passing on July 1, 1992. The couple raised two children, one of whom, Joann, also pursued a career in acting, adopting the stage name Sydney Soule.
Beyond his artistic contributions, Soule was an active member of the Masonic community, holding a 32nd-degree rank, and participated in the Los Angeles Show Business Shrine Club (Al Malikah).
Olan Soule passed away from lung cancer on February 1, 1994, at the age of 84, in the home of his daughter, Joann, and son-in-law, Dr. David Henriksen. He was laid to rest at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Hollywood Hills, Los Angeles.
