Kate Harbour
**Kate Harbour: A Journey Through Theatre**
Born in 1971 in the picturesque village of Nether Heyford, Kate Harbour’s passion for performance ignited at the tender age of four. She began dancing and quickly found herself participating in local school shows, including a memorable rendition of “Halfway up the Stairs” alongside her Kermit the Frog puppet, which sparked her enduring love for ‘The Muppet Show.’
At eight, Kate joined the Arts Educational School in Tring, focusing primarily on ballet. Her theatrical journey took a significant turn at age twelve when she was cast as the “first mouse” in the Royal Festival Ballet's production of “The Nutcracker,” performing in front of around 2,000 spectators at the Royal Festival Hall.
Continuing her training at The Central School of Ballet, founded by the late Christopher Gable, Kate enjoyed a remarkable third year touring with the school's company in “World on Fire.” She recalls a humorous incident of being locked out of her accommodation, which led to an unexpected entrance through the window of the Headmaster’s wife’s bedroom.
Kate's professional debut came as the back end of Maggie the Cow at Watford Palace. She later joined the National Youth Music Theatre (NYMT), where she showcased her talent opposite Jonny Lee Miller in Brecht's “Caucasian Chalk Circle.” The same year, she participated in the NYMT's production of “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat,” featuring Jude Law.
Among her career highlights, Kate performed in Cameron Mackintosh’s “Oliver” directed by Sam Mendes, and later in “Martin Guerre,” where she fondly remembers the challenges of mastering choreography in hobnail boots. Throughout her career, Kate has collaborated with numerous talented individuals, solidifying her place in the theatre world.
