Julian Holloway
Julian Holloway (June 24, 1944 - February 16, 2025) was a distinguished British actor whose career spanned over sixty years across stage and screen. Born to comedic actor Stanley Holloway and chorus dancer Violet Lane, Julian made his theatrical debut in London's West End with "All Square" in 1963. His West End accomplishments included key roles in Christopher Hampton's "When Did You Last See My Mother?", Colin Spencer's "Spitting Image", and Alan Ayckbourn's celebrated trilogy "The Norman Conquests", as well as a revival of "Arsenic and Old Lace." He gained recognition in the "Carry On" film series, starting with "Follow That Camel" in 1967.
By the early 1970s, Holloway shifted his focus predominantly to television, featuring in notable series such as "Elizabeth R," "The New Avengers," "Doctor Who," and "Rumpole of the Bailey." He also took on roles as a director and producer in theater. In the early 1990s, he relocated to California, appearing in American shows like "Beverly Hills, 90210" and "Remember WENN." His Broadway debut came in 1993 with a revival of "My Fair Lady," where he portrayed Alfred P. Doolittle, a role originally made famous by his father.
An accomplished voice actor, Holloway lent his talents to animated series like "James Bond Jr." and "Regular Show," as well as video games such as "Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End." He had a brief marriage to actress Zena Walker in 1971 and later had a daughter, Sophie Dahl, with Tessa Dahl. He was also married to voice artist Debbie Wheeler from 1991 to 1996. Holloway passed away at the age of 80 on February 16, 2025.
