Stéphane De Groodt
Stéphane De Groodt, born on March 3, 1966, is a multifaceted Belgian entertainer renowned for his work as a comedian, humorist, and former professional racing driver. The son of a Texaco engineer and a dedicated housewife, who provided care for children with disabilities, De Groodt faced challenges in his early education due to dyslexia, ultimately leading him to pursue a career in both comedy and motorsport.
Initially, he juggled various jobs including bartender, journalist, and marketing assistant while honing his comedic skills on stage during the evenings. His passion for racing was ignited when his parents gifted him a racing suit and helmet, and he later attended the racing school in La Châtre, where he crossed paths with notable driver Eric van de Poele.
From 1985 to 2000, De Groodt competed professionally in multiple racing series, achieving significant recognition in Formula Renault, Formula 3000, and the Porsche Supercup. He notably became the Champion of Belgium in the BMW Compact Cup before shifting his focus entirely to comedy in 2000.
De Groodt gained widespread acclaim with his television series "File dans ta chambre," which premiered on January 14, 2002, featuring humorous interactions between a father and his son. His comedic presence extended to radio, where he created popular segments like "Retour vers le futur" on Canal+ and later "Mes mails" on France Inter, showcasing his unique blend of wordplay and humor.
