Gerald R. Molen
Gerald Robert Molen, born on January 6, 1935, is a prominent American film producer renowned for his collaboration with acclaimed director Steven Spielberg. Molen has produced five films with Spielberg, most notably earning an Academy Award for his role as co-producer on the critically acclaimed Schindler's List. Currently, he is semi-retired, dividing his time between Montana and Las Vegas, Nevada.
Hailing from Great Falls, Montana, Molen spent his formative years in North Hollywood, California, alongside his younger siblings. His mother, Edith Lorraine Molen, owned a diner named "The Blue Onion," conveniently situated across from a major film studio. This environment sparked Molen's interest in cinema, leading him to begin his career by changing tires on studio trucks.
Throughout his career, Molen has made cameo appearances in several films he produced, including Rain Man, Days of Thunder, and Jurassic Park. A notable Easter egg for fans can be found in the film Hook, where the name 'Molen' is painted on a cauldron during a scene that showcases the pirate docks of Neverland.
