Plot
Upon hearing of his father's passing, car dealer Charlie Babbitt heads back to Cincinnati, where he uncovers the existence of his older brother, Raymond, a savant living in a mental institution. To his dismay, Charlie learns that their father's $3 million inheritance is intended for Raymond's care. Driven by the prospect of the inheritance, Charlie takes Raymond out of the facility, intending to bring him back to Los Angeles. Their journey across the country ultimately transforms both brothers in unexpected ways.
