Mohamed Mounir

Mohamed Mounir, born in 1951 in a village in Aswan Governorate, is a celebrated Egyptian actor and singer. Following the submersion of his Nubian hometown due to the creation of Lake Nasser by the Aswan High Dam, he relocated to Cairo with his family. Mounir pursued his education at Helwan University, where he earned a degree from the Faculty of Applied Arts. His artistic journey began when he was discovered by the prominent activist Zaki Murad, who introduced him to poet Abdel Rahim Mansour and artist Ahmed Mounib, whose songs he would later interpret.

Mounir's musical career took off in 1978 with the release of his debut album, "Bentawlad" (We Are Born), in collaboration with musician Hani Shenouda and his band. He subsequently joined forces with jazz musician Yehia Khalil, further enhancing his musical repertoire. Over the years, Mounir has released several acclaimed albums, including "Shababik" (Windows), "Shokolata" (Chocolate), "Momken" (Possible), "Men Awal Lamsa" (From the First Touch), and "Fi Eshq El Banat" (In the Love of Girls), solidifying his status as one of the most beloved singers in the Arab world.

Beyond music, Mounir has also made significant contributions to cinema and theater, starring in key films such as "An Egyptian Tale," "A Bitter Day, A Sweet Day," "The Sixth Day," "Destiny," and "Dunya." His artistic versatility and enduring popularity have made him an iconic figure in Egyptian culture.
