Marcos Kostenbader Valle, born on September 14, 1943, is a prominent Brazilian musician renowned for his contributions as a singer, songwriter, and record producer. His innovative work spans various genres, including bossa nova, samba, and eclectic fusions of rock, jazz, soul, and dance music, earning him recognition for bringing bossa nova into the limelight during the 1960s.

Raised in an apartment near Copacabana Beach, Valle displayed musical talent early on, learning piano by age five and receiving a Petrof piano at ten. His artistic journey began amidst the vibrant bossa nova scene in Rio, where he attended school with future stars like Edu Lobo and Dori Caymmi. His composition "Sonho de Maria" gained attention in 1963 when it appeared on the Tamba Trio's album, leading to his signing with Odeon Records. His debut album, Samba "Demais," was released in April 1964, swiftly establishing his reputation.

In 1965, his second album included "Samba De Verão" (or "So Nice (Summer Samba)") along with hits like "Deus Brasileiro" and "Gente." Valle's first USA visit in 1966 linked him with Sérgio Mendes, though he quickly returned to Brazil due to draft fears. He later released the successful Braziliance! in 1967 and appeared on The Andy Williams Show.

After a period abroad, Valle returned to Brazil with a renewed creative vision, evident in his introspective album Viola Enluarada (1968), which marked his evolution as an artist and reflected a growing political awareness. Valle remains a celebrated figure in Brazilian music, continuously influencing generations of musicians.
