Born in Stockholm, Sweden to a British father and a Swedish mother, Edward Baker-Duly has lived in various countries, including the United Kingdom, Ethiopia, and South Africa. His extensive career in television, theatre, and film showcases his versatility as an actor.

Baker-Duly is perhaps best known for his portrayal of the stern sports master Chris Malachay in the beloved BBC school drama *Grange Hill*, a role he held from 2003 to 2006. Prior to this, he gained recognition as Joe Fisher in the ITV1 soap opera *Emmerdale*, where he played the Australian partner of a gay builder. His film work includes *Botched*, alongside Stephen Dorff, and he has had notable appearances in comedic roles, such as Hermann Hauser in the BBC comedy-drama *Micro Men*. In December 2010, he took on the role of Joachim von Ribbentrop in the BBC Wales/Masterpiece revival of *Upstairs, Downstairs*.

In theatre, Baker-Duly has made significant contributions, originating the role of Ashley Wilkes in Trevor Nunn's musical adaptation of *Gone With The Wind* in 2008, and performing in classic productions like *West Side Story* and *South Pacific*.
