Jean-Pierre Miquel
Jean-Pierre Miquel (January 22, 1937 – February 22, 2003) was a distinguished French actor and theatre director who left a significant mark on the French theatrical landscape. His career spanned several decades, during which he held prominent positions, including serving as the artistic director of the Théâtre de l'Odéon from 1971 to 1977.
Miquel's influence continued to grow when he became the managing director of the Conservatoire national supérieur d'art dramatique from 1982 until 1993. In this capacity, he played a pivotal role in shaping the education of future theatrical talents. Following his tenure at the Conservatoire, he was appointed administrator of the Comédie Française, a prestigious institution in French theatre, where he served from 1993 to 2001.
In 1985, while at the Conservatoire, Miquel curated a noteworthy exhibition featuring the works of artist Dolores Puthod, which focused on the theme of Commedia dell'Arte. Additionally, he contributed to the scholarly discourse surrounding this exhibition by authoring articles included in the "Catalogo generale delle Opere di Dolores Puthod."
Miquel's dedication to the arts and his leadership in several key cultural institutions underscore his legacy as a vital figure in the world of French theatre.
