Hsu Feng

Hsu Feng, born on December 17, 1950, is a renowned actress and film producer from Taiwan. Rising to prominence in the 1970s, she became one of the most celebrated figures in the cinema of Hong Kong and Taiwan, particularly noted for her performances in wuxia films. Her collaborations with the acclaimed director King Hu significantly shaped her career and the genre itself.

In 1981, Hsu transitioned away from acting, opting for a brief retirement. However, her passion for film drew her back a few years later, this time stepping into the role of producer. Hsu went on to produce numerous critically acclaimed films, most notably Chen Kaige's masterpiece, *Farewell My Concubine*. This film achieved international recognition, winning the prestigious Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival in 1993, along with the BAFTA Award for Best Film Not in the English Language in 1994. Additionally, it garnered nominations for both an Academy Award and a César for Best Foreign Film.
