Mýa Marie Harrison, known professionally as Mýa, was born on October 10, 1979, in Washington D.C. She has made her mark as a multi-talented American singer-songwriter, record producer, and actress. In April 1998, she launched her self-titled debut album with Interscope Records, which quickly sold over a million copies in the U.S. and featured the gold-certified hit "It's All About Me," featuring Sisqó.

Her sophomore effort, the 2000 album Fear of Flying, achieved platinum status and included the standout single "Case of the Ex," which became her first major hit, topping the Australian Singles Chart. Mýa's career reached new heights when she won her first Grammy Award in 2002 for her collaboration on "Lady Marmalade," alongside Christina Aguilera, Lil' Kim, and Pink for the film Moulin Rouge!

In July 2003, she released her third studio album, Moodring, which was certified gold by the RIAA. Despite facing delays with her fourth album, Liberation, released exclusively in Japan in 2007, she continued to grow her discography with the Japan-only album Sugar & Spice in 2008.

In addition to her musical achievements, Mýa has ventured into acting, appearing in films like Dirty Dancing: Havana Nights (2004) and Chicago (2002), for which she earned a Screen Actors Guild Award. She also placed as a runner-up on the ninth season of Dancing with the Stars. Billboard ranked her as the 97th Hot 100 Artist of the 2000s, solidifying her impact on the music industry.
