Ronald Reagan (February 6, 1911 – June 5, 2004) served as the 40th President of the United States from 1981 to 1989 and was the 33rd Governor of California from 1967 to 1975. Before entering politics, he was a successful actor, appearing in more than fifty films, with memorable performances in "Knute Rockne, All American" and "Kings Row."

After graduating from college, Reagan began his career in Iowa as a radio broadcaster before relocating to Los Angeles in 1937 to pursue acting. His involvement in the entertainment industry also led him to serve as president of the Screen Actors Guild and as a spokesperson for General Electric, where he first dipped his toes into political waters.

Reagan's political journey began as a Democrat, but he switched to the Republican Party in 1962. His support for Barry Goldwater’s presidential campaign in 1964 galvanized his political ambitions, leading him to successfully run for the governorship of California in 1966, a position he held for two terms. Although he sought the Republican nomination for president in 1968 and 1976 without success, he ultimately triumphed over incumbent Jimmy Carter in the 1980 election.

After leaving the presidency in 1989, Reagan disclosed his Alzheimer's disease diagnosis in 1994. He passed away in 2004 at the age of 93, leaving a lasting legacy in American politics.
