Frank Doubleday, an intense and slender character actor known for his unsettling portrayals of villains, left a lasting mark on television and film from the mid-1970s to the early 1990s. Born on January 28, 1945, in Norwich, Connecticut, he moved with his family to Los Angeles at the age of six. Doubleday made his cinematic debut in the outrageous comedy The First Nudie Musical (1976), where he played a menacing punk armed with a switchblade.

His distinctive appearance—characterized by a gaunt face, closely cropped light blonde hair, and a wiry physique—made him an unforgettable presence on screen. He gained critical acclaim for his roles in two John Carpenter films: as the ruthless gang leader in the urban classic Assault on Precinct 13 (1976) and as the eerie henchman "Romero" in the cult sci-fi hit Escape from New York (1981).

Doubleday's impressive filmography also includes memorable performances as a mobster’s arrogant son in Avenging Angel (1985), a twitchy inmate in Space Rage (1985), and a ferocious supernatural spirit in Nomads (1986). His television credits are extensive, featuring guest spots on popular shows such as Hill Street Blues, T.J. Hooker, and Charlie's Angels. Beyond acting, he directed stage productions and taught acting at the Hollywood Court Theater. Frank Doubleday passed away from esophageal cancer on March 3, 2018, at the age of 73 in Los Angeles.
