3 titles Acting Aug 04, 1915 Died: Oct 02, 1990 Berlin, Germany

Loni Nest, originally named Eleonore Nest, was born on August 4, 1915, in Berlin to American Methodist missionaries. Her entry into the film industry came unexpectedly when a German movie producer spotted her on a promotional poster for a Sunday school event. With her parents' consent, she made her acting debut in 1918, adopting the stage name Loni Nest. Over the next 15 years, she showcased her talent in 41 films, working alongside prominent stars such as Charles Boyer, Greta Garbo, Marlene Dietrich, and Fritz Feld.

In 1933, as the political climate in Germany grew increasingly oppressive under Adolf Hitler, Nest relocated to Boston to join her family and help establish a new Methodist church, where her father took on the role of deacon. She pursued higher education and eventually became a music educator, dedicating over four decades to teaching in Massachusetts public schools.

In 1938, Loni married businessman Roy Smythe, who later founded a successful car dealership that thrived until his passing in 1987. The couple raised three children together. Following her husband's death, she moved to Honolulu, Hawaii, to live with her daughter. There, she engaged in volunteer work at a local hospital and remained active in her Methodist church community.

Loni Nest passed away at the age of 98 on February 17, 2014, leaving behind a legacy of resilience, creativity, and community service.
