Nia Roberts gained widespread recognition in 1998 with her role in *Solomon a Gaenor*, where she starred alongside Ioan Gruffudd. The film, which featured dialogue in both Welsh and Yiddish, garnered critical acclaim, winning Best Film at the 2000 Verona Film Festival and earning a nomination for Best Foreign Language Film at the 72nd Academy Awards.

Following her breakthrough, Roberts continued to make a mark in Welsh-language cinema with notable performances in *Fondue*, *Rhyw a Deinosors!*, *Newes of the Weeke*, *Y Palmant Aur*, and *Glan Hafren*.
