Karyn Parsons embarked on her acting journey at the tender age of 13. She made her television debut in the NBC drama The Bronx Zoo in 1987, but it was her iconic role as "Hilary Banks," Will Smith's cousin, on the beloved sitcom The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air that catapulted her to fame in 1990. Over the show's impressive six-year run, Parsons also appeared in films such as Class Act (1992) and Major Payne (1995).

Following The Fresh Prince, she took on a starring role in the short-lived sitcom Lush Life (1996), alongside Lori Petty, though the show was canceled after just three episodes. In 1998, Parsons achieved a significant milestone by landing her first lead role in the acclaimed film Mixing Nia. Her television journey continued with guest appearances in various sitcoms before she starred in the film 13 Moons (2002), where she met her future husband, director Alexandre Rockwell. The couple tied the knot in 2003 and welcomed a child together. Nowadays, they enjoy family life in New York City, where Parsons continues to explore her passion for storytelling and acting.
