He hails from a family where his father, Joe Sheehan, served in the Garda Síochána, the national police service of Ireland, alongside his mother, Maria Sheehan.
From a young age, Sheehan displayed a passion for music, mastering instruments such as the banjo, the bodhrán, and even the spoons. His early musical pursuits included participation in the Fleadh Cheoil, a prominent Irish music competition aimed at youth. His journey into the world of acting began when his mother encouraged him to audition for the film "Song for a Raggy Boy" (2003), which explores the harsh realities of a boys' school during World War II.
