Benita Hume
Benita Hume (14 October 1906 – 1 November 1967) was a prominent English actress known for her contributions to film during the early to mid-20th century. Over her career, which spanned three decades from 1925 to 1955, Hume graced the screen in 44 films, showcasing her talent in a variety of roles.
In 1938, she married the illustrious actor Ronald Colman, and their partnership extended to the entertainment world, as they both starred in the beloved comedy series The Halls of Ivy. This series aired on NBC Radio from 1949 to 1952 before transitioning to CBS Television from 1954 to 1955. The couple also made memorable guest appearances on The Jack Benny Show, where their roles as the long-suffering neighbors added to their charm and popularity.
Following Colman's passing in 1958, Hume found love again with actor George Sanders, whom she married in 1959. Tragically, her life was cut short by bone cancer in 1967, leading to her death at the age of 61 in Egerton, Kent, England. Hume’s legacy as a talented actress and her contributions to both radio and television remain noteworthy in the annals of entertainment history.
