He completed his studies at the Lunacharsky State Institute for Theatre Arts (GITIS) in 1980, where he trained under the esteemed Tabakov. Following his graduation, Gazarov graced various theaters in Moscow, including the Avant-garde Sovremennik and Tabakov's studio theater.

In 1991, he directed a notable production of "The Inspector General," which earned him the prestigious STD award for best performance of the year. That same year, he founded his own film production company, expanding his creative horizons. Gazarov also served as the chief director at the theater led by the legendary Armen Dzhigarkhanyan and has directed multiple television series throughout his career.

In his personal life, Gazarov was married to the well-known actress Irina Metlitskaya, with whom he had two sons, Nikita and Pyotr. His contributions to the theater and film industry continue to resonate, showcasing his diverse skills and passion for the performing arts.
