Alain Souchon
Alain Souchon, born Alain Édouard Kienast on May 27, 1944, in Casablanca, Morocco, is a celebrated French singer-songwriter and actor. With a prolific career spanning several decades, he has released 15 albums and appeared in seven films.
Souchon’s family moved to France when he was just six months old. Tragically, his father passed away in an accident when he was 15, prompting Souchon's mother to send him to a French college in England. However, he chose to stay in London to work. Upon returning to France, he embraced music, inspired by a mix of English and American influences. In 1970, he married and welcomed his first son while performing in Parisian cabarets.
In 1971, Souchon signed with Pathe-Marconi, but initial success eluded him until he collaborated with composer Laurent Voulzy. His breakthrough came with the hit "J'ai 10 ans" in 1974. Souchon wrote the theme for François Truffaut's film *Love on the Run* in 1978 and debuted at the iconic venue l'Olympia in 1980. He ventured into acting, achieving acclaim for his role in the 1983 film *L'été Meurtrier*.
In 1989, his song "La beauté d'Ava Gardner" garnered the title of best song at the Victoires de la Musique. His most significant hit, "Foule sentimentale," emerged from the million-selling album *C'est déjà ça* in 1993. Souchon continued to receive accolades, including the "Prix Vincent Scotto" in 1996, and made a triumphant return in 2005 with the album *La vie Théodore*, featuring the popular single "...Et si en plus y'a personne."
