Anita Björk
Anita Björk, born on April 25, 1923, in Tällberg, Dalarna, is a prominent Swedish actress whose career has spanned several decades. She honed her craft at the prestigious Dramatens elevskola, the Royal Dramatic Theatre's acting school, from 1942 to 1945. Since 1945, Björk has been a stalwart of the Dramaten theatre, where her extensive repertoire includes over 100 roles, solidifying her status as one of the theatre's most celebrated performers.
Björk has made significant contributions to Swedish cinema as well, earning acclaim for her leading roles in influential thrillers and crime dramas. Notable films in her career include "Det kom en gäst" (1947), "Moln över Hellesta" (1956), "Damen i svart" (1958), "Mannekäng i rött" (1958), and "Tärningen är kastad" (1960). However, her most iconic performance is arguably the title role in Alf Sjöberg's acclaimed adaptation of Strindberg's "Miss Julie" (1951), which garnered the grand prize at the Cannes Film Festival.
In her personal life, Björk was married to Olof Bergström from 1945 to 1951 and later to writer Stig Dagerman until his passing. She also had a relationship with author Graham Greene. As of 2009, she was seen captivating audiences in A.R. Gurney's play "Kärleksbrev" (Love Letters) at Dramaten, performing alongside Jan-Olof Strandberg.
