Brian Pettifer, born on January 1, 1953, in South Africa, is a versatile actor known for his work across television, film, and theatre. He is the younger sibling of renowned folk musician Linda Thompson.

Initially aspiring to be a photographer, Pettifer's path took a turn towards acting, leading to his early appearances in the BBC series This Man Craig and Dr. Finlay's Casebook, which fueled his passion for television performance. His film debut came in 1968 with Lindsay Anderson’s groundbreaking movie *if....* He continued to collaborate with Anderson, reprising his role as Biles in *O Lucky Man!* (1973) and *Britannia Hospital* (1982). Pettifer's extensive filmography includes notable appearances in classics like *Amadeus* (1984), *A Christmas Carol* (1984), and *The House of Mirth* (2000).

Pettifer gained popularity for his television roles, notably as the barfly in *Rab C. Nesbitt* and aircraftman Bruce Leckie in *Get Some In!*, where he often found himself the target of jokes.
