Peter MacNicol

Peter MacNicol is a distinguished American actor, celebrated for his versatile performances across stage and screen. Born on April 10, 1954, in Dallas, Texas, MacNicol pursued his passion for acting by studying theater at the University of Dallas and later at the University of Minnesota. Following his education, he relocated to New York City to embark on an acting career.

In 1981, MacNicol made a striking Broadway debut in the acclaimed play *Crimes of the Heart*, earning a Theatre World Award for his remarkable performance. His theatrical prowess continued with notable roles in productions like *The Real Thing* (1984), *The Crucible* (1996), and *The Pillowman* (2005).

Beyond the stage, MacNicol has built an impressive film career, featuring in memorable roles such as Galen in *Dragonslayer* (1981), Stingo in *Sophie's Choice* (1982), and Janosz Poha in *Ghostbusters II* (1989). He is perhaps best recognized for portraying the quirky lawyer John Cage in the hit series *Ally McBeal* (1997–2002), a role that earned him a Primetime Emmy Award in 2001 for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series.
