Brit Marling
Brit Heyworth Marling, born on August 7, 1982, in Chicago, Illinois, is a multifaceted American writer, producer, director, and actress. A distinguished graduate of Georgetown University, she earned her degrees in economics and studio art in 2005, graduating as the class Valedictorian. After completing her studies, Marling briefly interned at Goldman Sachs but opted for a creative path, relocating to Los Angeles with friends and fellow filmmakers Mike Cahill and Zal Batmanglij.
Marling first gained significant attention in 2004 with the documentary *Boxers and Ballerinas*, which she co-wrote and co-directed alongside Cahill. This project marked the beginning of her impactful career in film. In 2011, she co-wrote, co-produced, and starred in *Sound of My Voice* and *Another Earth*, both of which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival. *Another Earth* won the prestigious Alfred P. Sloan Prize for its exploration of themes in science and technology.
In 2012, Marling took on a notable role as Richard Gere's daughter in the financial thriller *Arbitrage*. The following year, she starred in *The East*, a film that again showcased her talent and garnered attention at Sundance, where she acted alongside Elliot Page and Alexander Skarsgård.
