Jim Siedow
James Nash "Jim" Siedow (June 12, 1920 - November 20, 2003) was a prominent American actor celebrated for his portrayal of Drayton "The Cook" Sawyer in the iconic horror film *The Texas Chain Saw Massacre* and its sequel, *The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2*.
Born in Cheyenne, Wyoming, Siedow ignited his passion for acting during his high school years. He later ventured to New York City to immerse himself in the theater scene. His career was briefly interrupted by service in the Army Air Corps during World War II. Following his military service, Siedow relocated to Chicago, where he began his career in radio broadcasting. In September 1946, he married actress Ruth, with whom he shared a family of three children. Soon after their wedding, they moved to Houston, Texas, where Siedow was instrumental in launching one of the city’s early community theaters and directed the inaugural performance of Edward Albee's *Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?*
Siedow's film career took off in 1971 with a minor role in *The Windsplitter*. However, it was his chilling performance as Drayton Sawyer in the 1974 cult classic *The Texas Chain Saw Massacre* that cemented his legacy in horror cinema. He reprised this role in the 1986 sequel and appeared in the TV movie *Red Alert* in 1977, along with a role in the 1980 film *Hotwire*. Jim Siedow's contributions to film and theater have left an indelible mark on the entertainment industry.
