Her passion for performance led her to the State Drama School in Berlin, which is now known as the Ernst Busch Academy of Dramatic Art. Following her education, Werner secured her early engagements at the Landestheater Halle an der Saale and the renowned Berlin cabaret, Die Distel.

From 1974 to 2009, she was a prominent figure at the Maxim Gorki Theater in Berlin, where her talent continues to shine through occasional guest performances.
