Jaan Rekkor
Jaan Rekkor, born on April 3, 1958, is a distinguished Estonian actor known for his work across stage, film, and television. Hailing from the small village of Hõreda in Rapla County, Rekkor completed his secondary education at Ants Lauter Märjamaa Secondary School (now Märjamaa Gymnasium) in 1976. He initially pursued journalism at the University of Tartu between 1976 and 1979 before shifting his focus to acting. Rekkor graduated from the Tallinn State Conservatory's Performing Arts Department (now the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre) in 1982 alongside notable peers such as Margus Oopkaup and Anu Lamp.
Rekkor’s career took off with his role as Jaanus Roog in the 1983 film "Nipernaadi," directed by Kaljo Kiisk, which was based on August Gailit’s novel. He continued to gain recognition with performances in films like "Saja aasta pärast mais" (1986) and "Äratus" (1989), both of which tackled significant historical themes. His portrayal of Muna in the 1992 biographical drama "Need vanad armastuskirjad" further showcased his versatility.
Throughout the 2000s, Rekkor appeared in various films, including the family comedy "Röövlirahnu Martin" (2005) and the musical-comedy "Buratino." His television career began with the 1995 mini-series "Wikmani poised," and he is particularly remembered for his roles in the crime series "Ohtlik lend" (2006-2007) and "Kättemaksukontor" (2010-2013). Jaan Rekkor remains a prominent figure in Estonian entertainment, celebrated for his diverse performances and contributions to the arts.
