Philip Stone (14 April 1924 – 15 June 2003) was a distinguished English actor renowned for his compelling performances across film, television, and theater. Born in Leeds, West Riding of Yorkshire, he made a significant mark in the cinematic world, particularly for his collaborations with the acclaimed director Stanley Kubrick. Stone featured prominently in three of Kubrick's films: he portrayed Alex's father in *A Clockwork Orange* (1971), played Graham, the lawyer for the Lyndon family, in *Barry Lyndon* (1975), and took on the role of Delbert Grady, the original caretaker, in *The Shining* (1980). This achievement places him alongside Joe Turkel as one of the few actors credited in three Kubrick films.
Beyond his work with Kubrick, Stone's filmography is impressive, including notable appearances in *Unearthly Stranger* (1964), *Thunderball* (1965), and *Where Eagles Dare* (1968). He also lent his voice to the character Théoden in Ralph Bakshi's animated adaptation of *The Lord of the Rings* (1978).
