She began her cinematic journey in 1938 with a memorable role as a mysterious nun in Alfred Hitchcock’s classic film, *The Lady Vanishes*, where she was credited as Catherine Lacy.

Throughout her career, Lacey showcased her versatility in a range of significant films including *I Know Where I'm Going!* (1945), *The October Man* (1947), *Whisky Galore!* (1949), and *The Servant* (1963). Notably, she portrayed Queen Elizabeth I in *The Fighting Prince of Donegal* (1966).
