Alan Hugh Dale is a talented actor hailing from New Zealand. Growing up, he developed a passion for theatre while also engaging in rugby. After his sports career ended, he explored various jobs to provide for his family before committing to acting at the age of 27. Facing limited opportunities in New Zealand, he relocated to Australia, where he gained recognition for his role as Dr. John Forrest in the television series The Young Doctors from 1979 to 1982. However, it was his portrayal of Jim Robinson in the iconic soap opera Neighbours that truly defined his career in Australia and the UK, a role he held for eight years before parting ways with the show due to disagreements over cast salaries.

Following his departure from Neighbours, Dale found himself typecast and struggled to find new roles in Australia. His fortunes changed when he moved to the United States in 2000, leading to a resurgence in his career. He landed significant roles in popular American television series such as Caleb Nichol in The O.C. and Bradford Meade in Ugly Betty, alongside guest appearances in acclaimed shows like Lost, 24, NCIS, and The X-Files. His film credits include appearances in Star Trek Nemesis and Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. A family man, Dale has been married to former Miss Australia Tracey Pearson since 1990 and they share four children.
