Plot

Leon Alastray, an outlaw seeking refuge, accompanies Father John to the beleaguered village of San Sebastian. The settlement lies abandoned, its inhabitants too terrified to confront the frequent Indian raids that plunder their resources. Tragedy strikes when Father John is killed, leading the superstitious villagers to mistakenly identify Alastray as the deceased priest. Despite his protests, an apparent miracle solidifies their belief. Embracing this unexpected role, Alastray gradually inspires the villagers to reclaim their courage and fight back against their oppressors, transforming them from fearful victims into a united front.
