The O'Neills enjoyed a peaceful life in their Australian countryside home until tragedy struck, claiming the life of Peter, the father. His grieving wife, Dawn, is left to care for their four children, including eight-year-old Simone, who refuses to accept the loss. Convinced that her father's spirit resides in a massive fig tree nearby, she believes it communicates with her through its rustling leaves. However, the tree's encroaching branches pose a danger to their home, and as plans to cut it down arise, Simone fiercely opposes any attempts to remove her cherished connection to her father.
