Plot

In "Captain Fracasse," the destitute Baron Philippe de Baron encounters a lively troupe of traveling performers led by Herod. Captivated by Isabella, the young actress portraying the ingenue, he steps in as the troupe's new poet after the previous one dies. Philippe adopts the persona of Captain Sunder during their shows. Although Isabella harbors feelings for Philippe, she hesitates to marry him due to his noble status, fearing it could jeopardize his future. When the Duke of Vallombrosa, enamored with Isabella, provokes Philippe, a duel ensues. After a fierce battle and a daring rescue, love triumphs, uniting Sunder and Isabella with the support of their theatrical friends.
